Throttle position regulator (1) can be removed separately. This is necessary if the drive pusher of the idle signal switch is faulty (2). Position (3) indicates the throttle stop bolt.
The throttle potentiometer is set and adjusted at the factory and must not be disassembled. We removed it to show you sliding contacts (4) and conductive paths (5). In the event of a malfunction, the fuel mixture preparation unit must be replaced.
View of the Mono-Motronic injection system with the air filter removed. On the picture:
1 - pressure regulator;
2 - plug for connecting the injection nozzle and the intake air temperature sensor;
3 - plug for connecting the throttle potentiometer;
4 - injection nozzle;
5 - intake air temperature sensor.
The control unit itself cannot be tested «homemade» means. But from practice it is known that malfunctions here occur very rarely. Sensors, switches and cable connections are much more likely to give rise to complaints. We suggest the following course of action:
Make sure the ignition is good.
Check fuel supply.
Carry out a visual inspection of the injection system components.
If the fault has not been found in this way, consult the list of faults at the end of the chapter and have the fault memory checked in the workshop.
Hint: In the event of a complete failure of the injection system, first check fuses no. 14, 17 and 19, as well as the fuse in the red holder in the electronics box. All power to the Mono-Motronic injection system passes through them (Chapter «Body electrical system»).
