Idling speed: 750-1000 rpm.
Test for the content of CO in the exhaust gases: 0.2-1.2% in the measuring tube.
Left: Checking the throttle potentiometer: you can see what resistance readings you should get at the potentiometer terminals marked here in the table on the next page.
Right: Checking the injection nozzle and intake air temperature sensor. The illustration shows the location of the common plug connections.
In this diagram, you can see the readings of the intake air temperature sensor next to the injection nozzle, as well as the coolant temperature sensor in the pipe on the left of the engine (position «1» in the picture on the right). The illustration shows the resistance value of the sensor as a function of temperature.
If you get other indicators, then you need to check the vacuum tubes and the solenoid valve of the fuel evaporation system and interrogate the memory of the fault memory.
Special annual exhaust gas test
If you always have your car serviced in a workshop, then you know that an exhaust gas toxicity test is in any case included in the scope of the annual inspection check. But even if you do your own car maintenance, we recommend having this test carried out by an Audi workshop. There, the records of the fault memory are read and they are erased from its memory, which an ordinary workshop cannot do.
