Install spark plugs. Install ignition coils with output stages. When disconnecting connectors, errors are written to the memory. After measuring, interrogate and, if necessary, erase the fault memory. Interrogate the fault memory of the engine control unit using the VAS 5051 tester.
Observe the installation position of the cylinder head gasket, marking: the part number must be clearly visible from the intake side. Make sure that the timing chain does not damage other components when turning the crankshaft. If the crankshaft has been turned, bring the piston of the first cylinder to TDC and turn the crankshaft slightly back again. Install the cylinder head. Insert the cylinder head mounting bolts and tighten them by hand, observing the tightening sequence of the cylinder head mounting bolts. Tightening the cylinder head mounting flanges after repair work is not necessary. Turn the vibration damper with the "T10355" counter-support to the "TDC" "arrow" position.

The notch on the vibration damper should be located opposite the arrow mark on the lower chain drive cover. Further assembly is carried out in the reverse order of disassembly, while taking into account the following: install the camshafts. Install the upper drive chain cover. Change the oil. Replace the coolant. Install the catalytic converter. Install the additional muffler. Install the tensioner.
Compression check
Engine oil temperature not less than 30°C. Battery voltage minimum 12.7 V. Remove the engine cover "arrows". Unscrew the bolts of the plug-in block for the ignition coils. Unlock the plug-in connector "arrows" and simultaneously disconnect all plug-in connectors from the ignition coils.

Remove the ignition coils with the puller "T40039". Unscrew the spark plugs with the spark plug wrench "3122 B". Check the compression with a compression gauge "V.A.G 1763" and adapter "V.A.G 1763/6".

Turn the starter until the compression gauge readings stop increasing.
