The connecting cable between the accelerator pedal and the injection system is very sensitive to longitudinal bending. When working in the engine compartment, you must ensure that the disconnected cable is not "broken", which may result in damage to it.

Replacing the "throttle" cable drive

At the end of the cable drive, remove the fastening brackets and at the point of attachment of the cable drive casing, remove the plug protection.

Remove the cover on the left side of the car under the instrument panel (chapter about the salon).

Pull the cable lugs out of the mounting end on the accelerator pedal lever.

Squeeze the rubber tip out of the bulkhead between the engine compartment and the passenger compartment.

Pull out the gas cable.

When installing the rubber tip of the new throttle cable, make sure that the cable does not bend.

Right: Around the cable drive; the numbers mean:
1 and 2 - mounting brackets;
3 - plug protection;
4 — throttle position controller plug;
5 — throttle valve stop with idle speed signal switch.

Adjusting the cable drive

The advice given here on adjusting the throttle cable applies to all injection systems installed in the Audi 100.

On all models with manual transmission, as well as on models with 6-cylinder engine and automatic transmission:

Depress the accelerator pedal fully.

For models with 4- and 5-cylinder engines and automatic transmission: insert a 9 mm thick wooden board between the gas pedal and the stop screw and fully depress the accelerator pedal.

The casing of the gas cable drive at the counter support (in the engine compartment) pull back fully until the throttle lever rests firmly against the throttle lever stop.

Insert the plug fuse into the corresponding recess in the cable drive housing at the counter support.

Control: the throttle lever should be at the throttle stop when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed, and at the idle speed limiter when the accelerator pedal is released.
