Cabin throttle cable (1) with your nipple (3), under which the spring is placed, is suspended in the forked eye at the upper end of the gas pedal (2) as shown here.
injection valves (5, 6, 7 and 8) removed together with the distribution tube (3) and pressure regulator (4). To do this, disconnect the supply pipes (2) and return (1) fuel and unscrew the distributor tube bolts.
Throttle control in a 1.6L engine
The arrow points to the nipple fixed with a retaining clip at the end of the throttle cable.
- 1 - throttle cable sheath;
- 2 - detachable latch;
- 3 - counter-support;
- 4 - throttle lever.
The location of the throttle controls in the engine compartment (engine 1.8 l)
The arrow shows the nipple fixed with a mounting bracket at the end of the throttle cable.
- 1 - throttle cable sheath;
- 2 - detachable latch;
- 3 - counter-support;
- 4 - throttle cable;
- 5 - throttle lever.
The connecting cable between the accelerator pedal and the throttle body must not be bent. During work in the engine compartment, make sure that the disconnected cable is not folded at an unfavorable angle, as a result of which it could be damaged.
Throttle cable replacement
1. In the engine compartment, remove the mounting bracket at the end of the cable and the detachable clamp at the point of attachment of the cable sheath.
2. In the passenger compartment, dismantle the lining on the left under the dashboard, see chapter Salon.
3. Remove the throttle cable retaining nipple from the lug on the top of the gas pedal.
4. Squeeze out a rubber tip from a back wall of an impellent compartment.
5. Turn the tip in the partition towards the passenger compartment 90°to the left and remove it.
6. Pull out the throttle cable.
7. Do not bend the new throttle cable when inserting the rubber lugs into the baffle.
Throttle cable adjustment
1. Press the gas pedal to the end.
2. Move throttle lever to full throttle position.
3. Insert the detachable retainer into the throttle cable sheath corresponding to the risk on the counterholder.
4. At the throttle lever with the gas pedal fully depressed, the gap should be a maximum of 1 mm.
Tip: After disconnecting the connectors of the Motronic ignition/injection control unit, as well as after disconnecting the battery in the control unit, all values obtained as a result of the so-called learning are erased. Independent adaptation of the control unit to engine data «forgotten», and the idle speed may be too high or erratic. During a short test drive, the control unit «is studying» adaptation to engine data. Although the learning process is blocked if information about a permanent malfunction is entered into the computer. In this case, you first need to read the memory with malfunctions and erase the information. Sporadic defects, such as the disconnection of a sensor connector, do not hinder the learning process.
