Idle speed and CO content in exhaust gases — check (Audi 80 B4)

Idle speed adjustment is not required for engines with the Mono-Motronic fuel injection system, because its adjustment, if necessary, is performed by the electronic control unit. And only if there is a suspicion of a discrepancy, the number of revolutions and CO content at idle speed are checked. The conditions for such a check are the engine warmed up to operating temperature, all consumers of the on-board network disconnected. The ignition advance angle must be set correctly.

Nominal values:

• a) idle speed - 750-1000 rpm
• b) CO content - 0.2-1.2% on the gas analyzer.

If the data obtained during the check does not correspond to the nominal values, then check the condition of the low-pressure supply hoses, as well as the electromagnetic valve of the fuel vapor recovery system.

If you perform all maintenance work on your car yourself, we recommend that you entrust the inspection of the contents of the CO to an AUDI repair shop. In the shop, along with the inspection, a survey of the self-diagnostic system will be performed and records of faults that have been eliminated will be deleted.
