The gearbox is a complex unit, so it is recommended to repair it at branded service centers. When removing and installing many parts, it is necessary to measure the gaps and, if necessary, adjust them using the appropriate adjusting linings and washers. If the gearbox is faulty or operates with a lot of noise, it is advisable to entrust its repair to a specialist or replace the gearbox, which can be much cheaper. However, some gearbox faults can be eliminated without removing it from the car.
Despite all the difficulties, an experienced specialist can repair a gearbox in a garage, having a special tool and performing the work sequentially, step by step noting the operations performed. When repairing a gearbox, it is necessary to use special pliers for removing retaining rings, bearing pullers, an inertia hammer, a set of punches, a micrometer and a hydraulic press.
Before removing the gearbox, try to determine the gearbox malfunction as accurately as possible, which will make repairs much easier in the future.
