2. The following procedure will save time and make assembly much easier:
- a) Crankshaft (see Chapter 8).
- b) Piston/connecting rod assemblies (see Chapter 7).
- c) Oil pump (see Section 1A).
- d) Pallet (see Section 1A).
- e) Flywheel/drive disc (see Section 1A).
- f) Cylinder head (see Section 1A).
- g) The timing belt tensioning mechanism, sprockets and the timing belt itself (see Section 1A).
- h) Inlet and outlet manifolds (see sections 3A and 3B).
- i) External engine components and ancillary parts.
- j) Auxiliary drive belts, pulleys and tensioners.
3. At this stage, all engine components must be absolutely clean and dry, and all faults must be eliminated. The components must be placed in order either in individual containers or on a clean work surface.
