Instruction. Attach the tow rope or tow bar to the eyelets.
Front towing eye
Remove the towing eyelets and a screwdriver from the onboard tool. Use a screwdriver to unlock trim -arrows- and remove. Screw in the towing eye as far as it will go and tighten it tightly with the wheel wrench. After use, unscrew the towing eye and store it in the on-board tool kit. The towing eye must always be in the vehicle.
Rear towing eye
Remove the towing eyelets and a screwdriver from the onboard tool. Use a screwdriver to unlock the cover and remove it.
Screw in the towing eye as far as it will go and tighten it tightly with the wheel wrench.
Instruction. The tow rope must be elastic so as not to create an excessive load on both vehicles. In this regard, use cables made of artificial fibers or similar elastic materials. Still, the use of a towing bar is considered more reliable! Always ensure that excessive traction and shock loads are not generated. Maneuvering during towing is associated with the risk of overloading the fastening elements and damaging them. Before starting the engine by towing, if possible, try to start it using the battery of another vehicle.
When towing or when trying to start the engine by towing, observe the following rules. Both drivers must be familiar with towing. Drivers without towing experience should not be behind the wheel of a towed/towing vehicle. When using a tow rope, the driver of the towing vehicle must operate the clutch particularly smoothly when starting off and when changing gear. The driver of the vehicle being towed must ensure that the rope is constantly taut. Both vehicles must have their hazard warning lights on, if necessary follow the rules that state otherwise. The ignition must be on to avoid steering wheel lock and the driver can turn on the direction indicators, horn, windshield wipers and washer. Due to the fact that the brake booster functions only when the engine is running, when the engine is not running, it is necessary to apply a significantly greater effort when pressing the brake pedal. If there is no oil in the manual gearbox or automatic gearbox, tow the vehicle only with the drive wheels raised.
When starting the engine of a vehicle with a manual gearbox using towing, observe the following rules: before starting towing, engage 2nd or 3rd gear, then press and hold the clutch pedal. Turn on the ignition. When starting the vehicle, release the clutch pedal. To avoid collision with a towing vehicle, immediately after starting the engine on the towed vehicle, press the clutch pedal and disengage the gear.
Instruction. On vehicles with catalytic converter (only for petrol), starting the engine by towing is possible only when the catalyst is warmed up to operating temperature, and the towing distance should not exceed 50 m. Otherwise, unburned fuel may enter the catalyst and disable it.
