Withdrawal
1. On engines equipped with a turbogenerator, it is recommended to remove the turbogenerator together with the exhaust manifold, and then separate these units. This is recommended because some of the turbogenerator mounting nuts are not accessible with normal wrenches. You can also remove the intake manifold first to improve access on these engines.
2. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the vehicle and place it on axle stands.
3. Remove the lower protective plate from under the engine compartment.
4. Turn off nuts, and disconnect the taking-away exhaust pipe from a turbogenerator or a final collector. Support the exhaust pipe on an axle support and remove the gasket.
5. On turbo generator models, disconnect the vacuum hoses and intake duct from the turbo generator. Also unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the supply and return oil tubes. Unscrew the return pipe from the crankcase and remove the gasket.
6. Gradually unscrew the mounting nuts, and remove the washers, then remove the exhaust manifold from the racks on the cylinder head. Remove pads (see illustrations).
7. Putting the collector on the workbench, unscrew the mounting nuts and remove the turbogenerator. Remove pads. Discard the nuts, use new ones when reassembling.
Installation
8. Clear contact surfaces of a collector and a head of the block of cylinders, then establish new linings on racks.
9. Install the turbogenerator on the manifold with a new gasket, and tighten the new mounting nuts with the tightening torque specified specifications.
10. Install the manifold on the racks on the cylinder head, and tighten the nuts with a tightening torque regulated specifications.
11. On models with a turbo generator, connect the oil supply and return pipes along with new gaskets or O-rings. Tighten nuts and bolts with a tightening torque specified specifications.
12. Attach the exhaust pipe to the turbogenerator or manifold, along with a new gasket. Tighten the nuts with a torque specified specifications.
13. Install the bottom skid plate, then lower the vehicle to the ground.
