2. Remove the filler cap of the main brake cylinder, seal the filler neck of the reservoir with polyethylene, secure the polyethylene with an elastic band. This will limit the loss of brake fluid.
3. Loosen the handbrake cable set nut, disconnect the two ends of the cables from the compensator.
4. Remove the manual brake cable guide bushings from the bottom suspension brackets, remove the cables from the rear suspension brackets.
5. Disconnect the brake pressure regulator spring from the rear axle.
6. Separate both rear flexible tubes of the brake line at their connections with solid brake pipes. Plug pipes and hoses after disconnection.
7. On vehicles equipped with an anti-lock braking system, remove the rear wheel speed sensors and wiring from the rear axle and trailing arms as described in Section 9.
8. On vehicles equipped with self-levelling suspension, disengage the governor valve linkage on the rear axle.
9. Unscrew the two nuts, move the fuel pressure accumulator with the mounting bracket to the side (if available). Do not disconnect the fuel lines from the battery.
10. Loosen the nuts on the pivot bolts on the front side of the trailing arms (photo).
11. Unscrew the diagonal rod from the rear axle.
