Models with rear drum brakes
2. Remove the cover in the center of the brake drum.
3. Remove the pin, remove the ring.
4. Unscrew the nut, remove the thrust washer.
5. Remove the brake drum.
Models with rear disc brakes
6. Remove the brake caliper and fastener hanger as described in Section 9, do not disconnect the hydraulic hose. Fasten the caliper.
7. Remove the brake disc from the hub.
8. Remove the cover in the center of the hub (photo).
9. Remove the pin, remove the blocking ring (photo).
All models
12. Remove the outer bearing inner race and rollers from the hub/brake drum.
13. Remove the oil seal from inside the hub / brake drum and remove the inner race of the inner bearing and rollers.
14. Knock out the outer races on each side of the hub/brake drum.
15. Clean bearings and hub/brake drum, wipe off stub axle. Check the condition of the rollers, inner and outer rings of the hub / brake drum, stub axle. If the bearing surfaces are worn, replace them. Prepare a new seal.
16. Lubricate the bearing housing and rollers with lithium grease, and apply grease to the hub/brake drum.
17. Insert the outer races into the hub/brake drum.
18. Insert the inner bearing inner race and rollers, position the oil seal with the seal lug lining inward, insert it. Lubricate the lug of the gland, then wipe the surface.
19. Position the hub/brake drum on the stub axle, install the outer wheel bearing, then the thrust washer and nut (photo).
20. Tighten the nut, then unscrew it until the thrust washer moves (photo).
21. Install the blocking ring, without moving the nut, install a new pin.
22. Insert the cover onto the drum.
23. Where available, install disc then caliper assembly as described in Section 9.
24. Install the wheel and lower the car.
