1. Place chocks under the front wheels, turn on the steam gear or "R". Raise the rear of the vehicle and install safety stands.
2. Carefully remove the protective cap of the hub.
3. Remove the cotter pin, remove the snap ring and slightly loosen the nut.
4. Slowly tighten the nut until it touches the thrust washer. When tightening the nut, rotate the hub so that the bearing rollers "found their place". Unscrew the nut on one side so that the thrust washer can barely be moved with a screwdriver (pic. 8.4). Install locking ring and insert new cotter pin.
5. Be careful not to overtighten the nut to cause premature bearing wear. If you are adjusting the nut of a bearing that has been adjusted for a long time and there is play, do not overtighten the nut to compensate for wear, this is potentially dangerous and can cause the bearing to seize.
6. Place a small amount of grease into the cap and carefully install the cap.
7. If a new bearing is installed, it is recommended to check the bearing adjustment after several hundred kilometers.
