Removal
1. The stabilizer must be removed and installed on a car standing on its wheels. To perform this operation, it is best to install the car on an inspection pit or overpass.
2. Loosen the bolts and other fasteners and remove the lower protective cover of the power unit to gain access to the stabilizer support clamps.
3. Unscrew the nuts and bolts securing the support clamps to the subframe. Remove the clamps and discard the nuts - new ones are required for installation.
4. Unscrew the mounting nuts and disconnect the vertical stabilizer rods from the lower arms on both sides. On later models with vertical rod mounts via rubber bushings, the rods are secured with bolts and nuts. Throw away the nuts in any configuration - new ones are required for installation.
5. Unscrew the nuts securing the stabilizer to the vertical rods. Throw away the nuts - new ones are required for installation. On later models, the vertical rods are secured with bolts and nuts (please note the remark in the previous paragraph). If provided, remove the washers and rear bushings from both sides of the stabilizer, remembering the way they were installed.
6. When removing, pay attention to the installation method of the rubber bushings of the vertical rods - with the convex side facing the "fork" of the levers. On later models, the vertical rods have rubber bushings instead of hinges. For correct installation, the arrow on the side of such a rod should point to the front of the car.
7. Lower the stabilizer and remove it from the vehicle.
8. A damaged or bent stabilizer must be replaced. Worn and pressed bushings must also be replaced.
Installation
9. Fasten the rods to the stabilizer, then insert the bolts (if provided) and new mounting nuts - at this stage tighten them "by hand" The convex side should point to the front of the car On later models the arrow on the side of the rod should also point to the front of the car.
10. Place the stabilizer in its place and secure the vertical rods to the levers. Insert the mounting bolts or hinge pins (depending on the type of rods) into the holes in the lower arms.
11. Tighten the new tie rod mounting nuts, tightening them only "by hand" at this stage.
12. Install the clamps on the stabilizer bushings. Insert the mounting bolts and screw on the new nuts. At this stage, tighten the nuts only "by hand".
13. Rock the car from side to side to "settle" the stabilizer. Tighten all four tie rod nuts to the specified torque, tighten the clamp mounting bolt nuts to the specified torque.
14. Install the lower protective cover, tightening the mounting screws securely.
