Note: On models equipped with anti-lock brakes, refer to Chapter 28 before starting work.
1. Jack up the front of the car. Remove the corresponding front wheel.
2. Disconnect the brake pad wear indicator wiring connector.
3. Clamp the flexible pipe of the high-pressure brake system line. This will limit the loss of brake fluid during subsequent actions.
4. Unscrew the connection of the brake hose to the line in the caliper housing, remove the mounting bracket and lift the hose.
Girling support
5. Remove the lower guide pin bolt.
6. Remove the top guide pin bolt, then lift the caliper up, leaving the pads in place.
7. If necessary, unscrew the fastening element hanger and remove it with the pads from the suspension strut.
Teves support
8. Remove the plastic covers, unscrew the upper and lower guide bolts.
9. Raise the caliper, leaving the pads in the working position.
10. If necessary, unscrew the fastening element hanger and remove it with the pads from the suspension strut.
Girling and Teves calipers
11. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, all mating surfaces must be clean, tighten the bolts and connections with the tightening torque specified in Specifications.
12. Bleed the hydraulic system as described in Chapter 17.
