2. Check the brake fluid level and, if necessary, top up to the MAX mark on the master cylinder reservoir (photo). If frequent topping up is necessary, look for a fluid leak somewhere in the system, which should be checked and repaired.


3. Check the front brake disc pads and rear brake disc pads or brake shoe linings, inspect the condition of the discs and drums. For more details, see Chapters 3, 10 and 7 respectively.
4. Check the condition of the hydraulic pipes and hoses. At the same time, check the condition of the handbrake cables, lubricate the exposed cables and rods, and, if necessary, adjust the handbrake as described in Chapter 19.

5. Replace the brake fluid at the specified intervals by draining and filling as described in Chapter 17.
