2. Using a pump or compressor, remove the piston from the cylinder, but place a block inside to prevent damage to the piston. Remove the dust cap.
3. Using a blunt screwdriver, remove the seal from the caliper hole, being careful not to scratch the walls of the hole.
4. Clean the caliper components with methyl alcohol and allow them to dry.
5. Inspect the caliper piston and bore, if their condition is unsatisfactory, replace the caliper assembly. Also replace the guide pins and/or bushings if they are damaged.
6. If the components are in satisfactory condition, use the repair kit consisting of a new seal and dust cap.
7. Install the new seal into the groove in the cylinder bore.
8. Install the dust cap on the piston as shown in Fig. 9.10, move the piston to the cylinder and install the sealing protrusion of the dust cap into the groove of the cylinder bore using a screwdriver.

9. Lubricate the piston and push it into the cylinder until the outer lip of the dust cap springs fits into the groove of the piston.
