Checking the oil level in the rear axle drive (Audi A4 B5)

The rear axle of the Audi A4 quattro is filled with 1.3 liters of transmission oil of viscosity class SAE 90 with the quality specification GL 5. An oil change is not provided, only a check of its level. A warning sign is a rear axle drive housing soiled with oil. In this case, you need to unscrew the screw plug of the inspection and filler hole in order to check whether the oil level still reaches the lower edge of the filler hole. If not, add oil.

There is a drain plug threaded on the bottom of the rear axle differential block.



At the rear of the rear axle differential block there is a threaded plug (1) for the inspection and filler hole, and underneath it there is a threaded plug for the drain hole (2).
