Execution order
1. Raise and support the vehicle in a horizontal position.
2. Unscrew the 17mm Allen bolt.
3. If a little transmission oil is already poured out, the oil level is OK.
4. Insert your finger into the threaded hole and check by touch whether the lubricating fluid reaches the hole - the oil level is sufficient.
5. If there is still less oil, add transmission oil of the required grade at a gas station or car service center.
6. Audi specifies oils of viscosity class SAE 75 W-90 with specification G 052 911. Unlike the transmission oils used in older Audi models, this is a synthetic oil.
Tip: Fill very thick transmission oil yourself using a funnel and a long hose (even if it's heated) – a real test of patience. Therefore, we do not recommend doing this. It is better to use special top-up tanks with a hose attached.
The threaded plug (1) for checking the oil level in the manual gearbox is located at half the height of the gearbox housing.

The drain plug (arrow) is located under the gearbox.
