The oil poured into a manual transmission must meet certain requirements. AUDI recommends using a synthetic oil with a viscosity of SAE 75 W-90 according to specification G 50.
The crankcase of the rear wheel drive of AUDI 80 quattro cars is filled with 1.3 liters of gear oil with a viscosity of SAE 90 of APL GL 5 specification. The oil change in the crankcase is not provided. However, checking the oil level in the crankcase is necessary. An oily crankcase may be cause for concern. In this case, unscrew the filler plug and make sure that the oil level is level with the bottom edge of the hole. If necessary, contact the workshop for refueling.
