The following hard and fast rule applies: for treating hinges and other joints with narrow openings where consistent grease does not pass, it is better to use oil or lubricating spray. Surfaces that rub against each other are better treated with consistent grease or lubricating paste, which stick better.

Doors and trunk lid

1. The door hinges in the Audi A4 are maintenance-free. But it won't hurt to lubricate them with a little oil from time to time.

2. Lubricate the small door latch arms with a small amount of all-purpose grease at the lower door hinge.

3. The keyholes of the doors and the trunk or rear lid can be treated with a small amount of lubricating spray.

4. Lubricate the trunk lid hinges with oil.

Castle drum

Spray a small amount of sealing and rust dissolving spray into the keyhole no later than the beginning of the cold season.

It lubricates, displaces moisture and protects against corrosion, as well as freezing in winter.

Hood

1. Apply a small amount of grease to the area where the cable exits the sheath, and then use a few lever movements to pull it into the sheath.

2. Apply a small amount of grease or spray onto the hood pin bolt and the locking lever on the body.



3. Lubricate the hinges and hood catch with oil or spray.

Sliding sunroof

1. The guides are treated with a thin layer of lubricant from a spray gun.

2. Do not stain the roof lining.

3. Wipe off excess grease.
