1. Block the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Remove the rear wheels, release the handbrake.
2. Loosen the mounting nut under the vehicle, remove the equalizer rod from the rear of the handbrake.
3. Unfasten cables of a manual brake from suspension brackets and holders.
4. Install the clamps on the two flexible hoses on the rear brakes, then unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the two hard brake pipes.
5. Loosen and remove the nuts on the front side of the rear axle trailing arms. Do not remove bolts at this stage.
6. Disconnect the brake pressure regulator control spring from the rear axle.
7. Turn off a nut, remove a bolt fixing diagonal draft to a back axis.
8. Support the rear axle with a jack or axle stands.
9. Turn off and remove both back bolts of the bottom fastening of the shock-absorber.
10. Remove the pivot bolts, then lower the rear axle to the ground while guiding the handbrake cable over the exhaust system.
11. If necessary, remove the pivot pins (Chapter 11), brake pipes and handbrake cables (Section 9). Pivot bushings can be replaced using a long bolt and nut, metal pipe and washers. When installing new bushings, make sure the two cuts in the rubber are horizontal and parallel to the trailing arm. Insert bushings by hand.
12. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. But do not fully tighten the mounting bolts before placing the weight of the vehicle on the suspension.
13. Tighten all nuts and bolts with the specified tightening torque specification. All self-locking nuts must be replaced.
14. Bleed the hydraulic system and adjust the handbrake cable as described in Section 9.
