Handbrake cables — removal and installation (Audi 80 B3)

1. Block the front wheels, then jack up the rear of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Remove the heat shield where used.

2. Unscrew the fastening nut from the end of the handbrake lever rod and remove the cable compensator.

3. Disconnect the front ends of the cable housings from the underbody suspension (photo).



4. Disconnect the rear ends of the cables, following Chapter 7 or 11.

5. Release the cables from the bottom brackets.

6. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. Adjust the handbrake as described in Chapter 23.
