Removal
1. Disconnect the cable from the balancer and remove the cable sheath from the mount.

2. Remove the cable sheath from the fasteners. Unscrew the fastening nut.
3. Disconnect the cable from the handbrake lever and remove it from the vehicle.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
Adjustment
1. Loosen the handbrake cable adjusting nut to relieve tension on the cables.
Models with rear drum brakes
2. Press the brake pedal several times.
3. Raise the handbrake lever three clicks.
4. Tighten the adjusting nut until the brake shoes touch the brake drums. Release the handbrake and check that the wheels rotate freely.
5. Raise the handbrake lever three clicks and check that it is adjusted correctly.
Models with rear disc brakes

2. Check that the handbrake levers on both rear wheel calipers are touching the stops.
3. Depress the brake pedal several times to establish the correct clearance between the brake pads and the disc.
4. Tighten the handbrake adjusting nut until the handbrake levers lift slightly off the stops. Loosen the adjusting nut two full turns back.
5. Check that both levers are in firm contact with the stops.
6. Check the handbrake adjustment and repeat if necessary.
