Removal the gear selector cable



Note: On vehicles with a 2.0 l TFSI and 2.0 l TDI engine, the front end of the selector cable is accessible from the engine side; the retaining clip can be removed from the side. On vehicles with a 3.0 l TDI and 3.2 l FSI engine, the front end of the selector cable is only accessible from below; to do this, the additional exhaust pipe must be removed.




Pull the parking brake lever to engage the electromechanical parking brake. Shift the automatic transmission selector to position "D". Carefully press the selector lever sleeve from the side using wedge "3409" "arrow" and twist it upwards. Through the hole "arrow" in the gearshift mechanism, using the socket attachment "T40031" by 1 turn loosen the automatic transmission selector cable bolt. Only loosen the clamping bolt - do not unscrew it. Installation



Installation in reverse order. Replace the automatic transmission selector cable sealing ring. Replace the noise insulation lock washers. Before installation, lightly lubricate the loop and ball joint of the automatic transmission selector cable with polycarbamide grease "G 052 142 A2". Insert the sealing ring "1" of the automatic transmission selector cable. Insert the automatic transmission selector cable "2" into the functional unit of the gear shift mechanism "arrow". Secure the gear selector cable "2" with the locking bracket "3".

Installation position: the curved edge of the locking bracket "1" faces the gearshift lever. Move the gearshift shaft lever "1" on the gearbox all the way back "arrow" to lock the gearshift lock mechanism. If the gearshift lock mechanism is locked, both front wheels must not be turned simultaneously in the same direction. Press the gearshift lever 3 forward with the locks so that the gearbox is in position "D". Make sure that the automatic transmission selector in the car is also in position "D".

Fix the automatic transmission selector cable with the locking clamp "1". Adjust the gearbox selector cable. Install the exhaust system and secure it without mechanical stress. Install the strut brace.
