Installation
To install the automatic transmission selector lever, the locking button must be pulled out as far as it will go and secured using a cable tie -arrow- or the mounting device supplied with the new handle. If, due to an oversight, the locking button was not locked, then it cannot be removed from the automatic transmission selector handle using a mechanical auxiliary tool. Place the compressed air gun at the bottom of the handle and press out the locking button with compressed air. Place a new clamp -arrow- on the selector lever. Push the automatic transmission selector handle fully onto the selector - the locking button faces the driver. In this case, the handle should fit into the annular groove of the automatic transmission selector. Remove the cable tie or mounting device so that the locking button drive fits into the vertical groove of the selector. If necessary, press the locking button into the selector handle. To check the operation of the button mechanism, move the selector to the position "R" And "S". If the selector cannot be moved to the indicated positions, the handle must be removed again. Secure the automatic transmission selector lever -2- with a clamp -arrow- to the automatic transmission selector lever, to do this use hose clamp pliers -VAG 1275-. Attach the automatic transmission selector cuff holder frame -1- to the center console.
