Remove the cross braces from the subframe. Risk of damage to travel parts; howl part. If the unit support, steering gear or subframe spacer is not mounted properly, the vehicle will not be able to be placed on wheels.
If present, remove bolts -arrows- and remove heat shield -1- for propeller shaft.
Vehicles with a bolted propeller shaft: Unscrew the bolts connecting the propeller shaft and gearbox, while holding them against turning using the counterhold -T10172- with -T10172/5-. Move the cardan shaft to the rear main gear; constant velocity joints are movable in the axial direction. Place the driveshaft on the front cross member.
Vehicles with a plug-in propeller shaft: Use the vehicle data plate or the rear final drive marking to determine the type of rear final drive installed. Then select the appropriate repair manual for the rear final drive. Take off (inserted) cardan shaft
Vehicles with single-flow exhaust system: Unscrew the screw connections -arrows-, push the clamping sleeve back and tie the front exhaust pipe to the body.
Vehicles with dual-flow exhaust system: Loosen the retaining sleeve -1 - and -2-, move it backwards and secure the additional one. muffler on the body.
All
Place the gearbox support -T10337- on the engine and gearbox lift and position it against the gearbox from below. Raise the gearbox slightly
Unscrew the bolts -arrows- for the tunnel cross member..
Lower the gearbox using the tilting mechanism by the amount -a-. Dimension -a- = maximum 100 mm.
Unfasten the ball bearing -2- of the automatic transmission selector cable using the release lever -80-200- from the gearbox lever. Remove the retaining clip -1- and disconnect the automatic transmission selector cable from the gearbox. The selector cable must not be bent or broken.
If present, remove nuts -arrows-. Lower the underbody trim from the inside until the heat shield -1- of the central tunnel can be removed. Remove the gearbox shift mechanism.
Installation
Install in reverse order. Before installation, lightly lubricate the ball bearing of the selector lever cable with polyurea grease -G 052 142 A2-. The selector cable must not be bent or broken. Adjust the gearbox selector cable. Install a heat shield. Install the tunnel cross beam. Check the gear shift drive. Align the exhaust system without mechanical stress. Use the vehicle data plate or the rear final drive marking to determine the type of rear final drive installed. Then select the appropriate repair manual for the rear final drive. Install the driveshaft. Install cross braces on the subframe. Install the front ashtray. After removing and installing the shift actuator function block, it is necessary to carry out the appropriate "Slave function" using diagnostics tester.
