2. Remove the central console. If only adjustment is required, proceed to step 8.
3. Disconnect the wiring from the starter interlock and the gear selector panel illumination lamp.
4. Unscrew the bolts and remove the console from the mounting bracket.
5. Unscrew the cable terminal bolt and the nut securing the cable to the lever suspension.
6. Remove the bolts, suspension and control arm assembly from the floor.
7. Unscrew the cable bracket from the transmission, remove the locking ring, disconnect the end of the cable from the lever. Remove the cable from under the car.
8. Installation is carried out in the reverse order, adjust the cable as follows. Move the gear selector lever fully forward to the P (Park) position. Loosen the cable terminal bolt, move the lever on the transmission fully rearward to the P (Park) position. Tighten the cable terminal bolt to the tightening torque specified in Specifications. Lubricate the selector lever and cable pivot pin with molybdenum grease.
