
The handbrake is applied by moving the lever upwards. When braking the car on a slope, additionally engage 1st gear, and if there is an automatic transmission, the parking lock. Tighten the lever all the way also so that it is impossible to move from the spot with the handbrake applied.
When the handbrake is applied and the ignition is on, the handbrake indicator light comes on.
To release the vehicle from the handbrake, pull the lever up slightly, press the release button – see illustration – and lower the lever all the way down.
