Removal



Raise the car on a lift and remove the rear wheels.

Let go parking brake.

On all-wheel drive vehicles, remove the rear section of the exhaust system.

Mark the relative positions of the propeller shaft flange and the main rear gear flange and unscrew the bolts securing the propeller shaft to the main rear gear (Fig. 15–38).

Loosen the screws and remove the central heat shield (see Fig. 15–38).

Using special key 3343, loosen the adjusting nut securing the compensator to the parking brake lever rod (see Fig. 15–34).

Remove the parking brake cables from the compensator.

Remove the springs securing the parking brake cable housings (see Fig. 15–34).

Disconnect the cable from the caliper (Fig. 15–39).

Remove the parking brake cable housing from the bracket and move the cable to the rear (See Fig. 15-39).

Do not unscrew the bolt securing the shock absorber to the rear suspension wishbone (see Fig. 15–39).

Release the left parking brake cable from the retainer 1 (Fig. 15–40) and, moving it backwards, remove it from the guide tube 2.

Release the right parking brake cable from clamps 4 and 5 and, moving it backwards, remove it from guide tube 3.

Installation



Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following.

Tighten the propeller shaft to final drive bolts to 55 Nm.

Check that the system is installed freely, without tension, with sufficient clearance from the body elements.

Adjust parking brake.
