Withdrawal
Disconnect the negative wire from the battery.
Remove the upper bolts connecting the gearbox to the engine. Raise and support the vehicle securely.
Using suitable engine support, support the engine and vehicle.
At the front of the engine, remove the two upper bolts. Remove starter.
Through the starter hole, remove the bolts securing the torque converter to the drive plate and remove the protective plate (cover) torque converter.
Press down the hoses on the transmission ATF oil cooler and remove the hoses from the radiator.
Remove the speedometer cable from the gearbox.
Remove the bolts connecting the inner side of the axle shaft and the gearbox. Hang the axle shafts with wire.
Mark the position of the ball joint on the left control arm and remove the joint and support.
Place an oil collection container under the gearbox, remove the oil pipe from the sump and drain the fluid.
Remove the exhaust pipe bracket from the gearbox.
Remove the selector cable bracket. At the shift lever on the gearbox, remove the selector cable retaining ring and cable.
Remove cable bracket at gearbox "gas" (accelerator) and the cable itself from the drive lever.
Remove the center bolt from the gearbox support. Using an engine support tool, slightly raise the engine.
Remove the throttle cable bracket bolts and bracket.
Support the gearbox and raise it slightly. Remove the lower gearbox mounting bolts on the engine.
Separate the engine from the gearbox and lower the gearbox. Maintain torque converter.
Installation
When installing the gearbox, the torque converter may slip off the one-way clutch support and the oil pump shaft may come out of the pump. This can cause damage when attaching the gearbox bolts to the engine. Make sure the transducer is properly positioned before installing the bolts.
Tighten:
- gearbox mounting bolts on the engine with a torque of 56 Nm
- additional frame mounting bolts - torque 71 Nm
- the central gearbox mounting bolt - a torque of 40 Nm.
Install the torque converter mounting bolts on the drive plate with a torque of 3Nm. Install the cover plate.
Install the axle shaft bolts on the gearbox and tighten them to 45 Nm.
Connect the ball joint to the control arm and tighten the bolts to 65 Nm.
Install exhaust system. At the same time, tighten all clamps, only making sure that all parts are located correctly (This is done to reduce vibration).
Connect hoses to oil cooler. Install the oil filler tube and fill the gearbox with fluid.
Connect and adjust selector cable if required. Connect and adjust drive levers "gas" and align the engine mounts on the gearbox if necessary.
