It would be possible to go too far in disassembling the gearshift mechanism in detail, but it rarely causes problems. If the gear is difficult to engage, then the fault is usually in the clutch mechanism. However, the gearshift mechanism should be adjusted. Since this does not require special tools, this operation must be described. First, check the shifting as follows:

Shift through all gears in order. While doing so, check the operation of the reverse gear lock. It should be possible to move the shift lever in the selected shift direction from the reverse gear clamp to the 3/4 gear shift line without pressing hard. If not, adjust the shift mechanism as follows:

Move the gear shift lever to neutral position.

Remove the head (handle) of the gearshift lever and remove the lever sleeve. The Oka is attached with hooks to the lower frame.

Check the position of the gear shift lever in the selected position for shifting (free play). For this purpose, on some models, you should pay attention to the distance (a). If it does not reach 37.0 mm, then you need to adjust the lever accordingly. The measured distance is the adjustment in the longitudinal direction.

Loosen the bolt (1) and move the plate (2) of the gearshift lever until the distance (a) is reached. In this position, tighten the bolt to a torque of 25 Nm.

To properly adjust the gear shift lever laterally, do the following:

To properly adjust the gear shift lever laterally, do the following:

Loosen the nut (3) (see picture above) and move the ball joint in the housing (4) horizontally in the direction of movement. Tighten the nut (3) to a torque of 10 Nm.

Loosen the bolt (1).

Move the shift lever back a little, located at a right angle to the direction of travel, i.e. holding it vertically and align it so that both protrusions of the ball joint on both sides have the same distance (a) to the ball housing.

Tighten the bolt (1) to a torque of 25 Nm, ensuring that the selected position of the lever does not change.

Engage all gears in sequence. Check the operation of the reverse gear lock.

If normal operation of the switching mechanism is still not achieved, then fine adjustment must be made by loosening nuts (3) and (4) again.

Move the gearshift levers to the right until they stop on the gearbox and at the same time press the ball joint housing to the left against the lever.

Leave the lever and its support in this position and tighten the nut (3) to a torque of 25 Nm, and the nut (4) to a torque of 10 Nm.

Finally, install the casing (cuff) and gear shift lever handle.
