Valve mechanism (Audi A8 D2)

Turn the crankshaft by the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt in the direction of working rotation until one of the camshaft cams is installed with the protrusions upward and check the clearance between the cam and the hydraulic tappet. The clearance should be within 0.10–0.20 mm.

Otherwise, remove the camshaft and tappet. Remove the compensator, measure its thickness and select a compensator of the required thickness.

Example

Measured gap - 0.30 mm

Nominal clearance – 0.15 mm

The difference is 0.15 mm

It is necessary to install a compensator 0.15 mm thicker.
