            0
If the pump is removed only for installation work in the engine compartment, the hoses remain connected to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulics. If the hoses in the pump must be removed, care must be taken. The smallest particles of dirt in the working fluid can cause a malfunction (oil grades, see chapter on lubrication system).

Remove the V-belt and, accordingly, the ribbed belt, see the chapter "Generator".

4-cylinder engine: remove the lower engine cover.

Loosen the nuts at the front of the pump.

Remove the pump.

5-cylinder engine: unscrew the sheet metal of the lock above the radiator (chapter "Body parts").

Loosen the booster pump drive gear screws.

Remove the ribbed belt (chapter "Generator").

Now completely unscrew the screws of the booster pump drive gear and remove the gear.

Three pump mounting bolts (front and back) unscrew.

Remove the pump.

The arrow indicates the steering adjustment bolt, which is located rather hidden. In the illustration it is visible between the brake booster and the rear wall of the engine compartment.

6-cylinder engine: Remove engine cover.

Loosen the booster pump drive gear lock screws.

Remove the ribbed belt (chapter "Generator").

Remove the gear completely.

Remove the tip of the wire to the spark plug, unscrew the ignition coil together with the holder; remove all parts together.

Hydraulic fluid supply hose - with hose clamps, disconnect from fittings and plug (as a replacement for the cork).

Unscrew the discharge pipe and plug it with a clean rag.

Unscrew the pump together with the holder.

All: Hydraulic hoses, if possible, leave connected, and pump with hoses in engine compartment (with a six-cylinder engine).

If you remove the hoses, this must be done before removing the pump.

Keep it clean!

Use new seals during installation.

Reassemble the plug with the mesh and tighten to 25 Nm.

Tighten the plug without a mesh to 40 Nm.

Tighten the neck under the threaded plug for the hose - since it has been removed - to 50 Nm.

Before connecting the new booster pump to the suction side, fill it with hydraulic fluid (for specifications, see chapter "Lubrication of all parts"). Turn the pump until oil comes out of the discharge side.

Fill and bleed the power steering gear.
