Checking the power steering mechanism for leaks.
If a low fluid level is detected in the receiver, the entire steering system must be checked as soon as possible. Otherwise, the power steering may suddenly stop working while driving. The following is the check sequence:
Turn the steering wheel once to the right and once to the left until it stops. This will create the highest possible pressure in the power steering, and leaks will become more noticeable.
Leave the steering wheel in one of the extreme positions and check the following places for leaks:
Rotary valve. It is located approximately where the steering column connects to the steering gear. The working fluid in this case comes out into the car's interior under the dashboard on the front wall.
Leak at the rack seal. To check, loosen the casing clamps and move it to the side.
On the hydraulic pump. To detect leaks, you may have to wash the engine before checking.
On the pipeline connections. It is necessary to check and, if necessary, tighten all connections individually.
