1. Where applicable, unscrew and remove the radiator cooling fan shroud.
2. Loosen pump adjusting and mounting bolts (photo), turn the pump towards the engine and remove the drive belt from the pulley.
3. Place a suitable container under the pump.
4. Install the clamps on the flexible pressure hose and return hose, then unscrew the connection bolts and disconnect the hoses (photo). Remove gaskets. Where necessary, unscrew the bolt (s) hose holder hangers.
5. Remove pivot pin and mounting bolts, remove pump from engine.
6. Before repairing the pump, check that it is possible to obtain spare parts. The cost of spare parts must also be considered as it may be better to purchase a new unit. Work must be done in a clean room to prevent dust and dirt from damaging the internal components.
7. Clean the outside of the pump.
8. Unscrew the racks, remove the back cover. Mark the position of both covers relative to each other. Remove the O-ring.
9. Remove the spring, limit valve and lever from the support element.
10. Remove the seal holder, seal, and channel plate.
11. Remove the stator, noting that the arrow is on the outer end.
12. Remove the circlip from the shaft, remove the rotor. Remove the blades, noting their position and orientation (those. edges out).
13. Remove the shaft from the rear cover, then use a screwdriver to remove the oil seal.
14. Clean the components, check their condition. Rotate the bearing quickly by hand to check its condition. Prepare a repair kit of parts, which consists of a seal, a seal holder and a retaining ring.
15. Assembly of the pump is carried out in the reverse order. Install the new components, but note the following additional items. Soak the oil seal in hydraulic fluid before installation. Install the security element into the housing opening. The arrow on the stator should be out. The repair kit contains two types of circlips - use only the one identical to the one removed. The lubrication holes in the housing halves must be properly aligned. Apply blocking fluid to the threads of the housing posts.
16. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. But before doing this, it is recommended to fill the pump with hydraulic fluid, and remove all air by turning the pulley manually. Replace the gaskets, tighten the connection bolts with the torque specified in the Specification. Adjust the drive belt as described in Chapter 2, and fill the system with fluid according to Chapter 19.
