5. Remove the pivot shaft and mounting bolts, remove the pump from the engine.

6. Before repairing the pump, check that spare parts are available. The cost of spare parts should also be taken into account, as it may be better to purchase a new unit. The work should be carried out in a clean room so that dust and dirt do not damage the internal components.

7. Clean the outside surface of the pump.

8. Unscrew the pillars, remove the rear cover. Mark the position of both covers relative to each other. Remove the O-ring.

9. Remove the spring, limit valve and lever from the support element.

10. Remove the seal holder, seal and channel plate.

11. Remove the stator, noting that the arrow is on the outer end.

12. Remove the retaining ring from the shaft, remove the rotor. Remove the blades, noting their position and orientation (i.e. with the edges facing outwards).

13. Remove the shaft from the rear cover, then use a screwdriver to remove the oil seal.

14. Clean the components and check their condition. Quickly rotate the bearing by hand and check its condition. Prepare a repair kit of parts, which consists of a seal, a seal holder and a retaining ring.

15. Reassemble the pump in reverse order. Install the new components, but note the following additional points. Soak the seal in hydraulic fluid before installing. Install the support element in the housing bore. The arrow on the stator must be facing out. The repair kit contains two types of retaining rings - use only the one identical to the one removed. The lubrication holes in the housing halves must be correctly aligned. Apply locking fluid to the threads of the housing posts.

16. Installation is carried out in the reverse order. But before this, it is recommended to fill the pump with hydraulic fluid and remove all air by turning the pulley manually. Replace the sealing gaskets, tighten the connection bolts with the tightening force specified in the Specification. Adjust the drive belt as described in Chapter 2, and fill the system with liquid, following the instructions Chapter 19.
