Draining and filling liquid
1. Place a suitable container under the supply tank, then disconnect the pump supply hose, drain the liquid from the tank.
2. Place a container under the power steering pump, then unscrew the connections of the supply and pressure hoses, drain the fluid.
3. Check and, if necessary, replace the gaskets of the connection, then reconnect the hoses, tighten the connections. Connect the hose to the reservoir.
4. Unscrew the tank filler cap, remove the filter together with the spring, plate and gasket. Remove the dipstick components in the cap, then clean them with alcohol and let dry. Note that on models with a hydraulic brake booster unit, the filler cap includes a low level indicator and wiring harness.
5. Fill the system with fluid up to the maximum level mark.
Pumping
6. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and support it on axle stands.
7. With the engine off, turn the steering wheel sharply from lock to lock several times to purge all air from the power cylinder. Top up the fluid to the correct level.
8. Set the front wheels straight ahead, then start the engine at idle and let it run for approximately two minutes.
9. Stop the engine and check the fluid level in the reservoir immediately. Top up if necessary up to the maximum level mark.
10. Repeat the procedure given in steps 8 and 9 if you feel that there is still air in the reservoir fluid.
11. Finally, lower the vehicle and top up the fluid level. Install the filler cap.
