The power steering fluid level can be checked when cold or hot during operation (around 50°C). It is prescribed to check the fluid level in. power steering when cold.
On a vehicle that has not been driven, with the engine off, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.
Unscrew the cap from the power steering reservoir (see fig. 1.35). Wipe the dipstick at the bottom of the cover with a clean rag.
Screw on and then unscrew the cover.
Check the fluid level, which should be near the MIN·mark (see fig. 1.36). Permissible deviation of the liquid level on the probe from the mark MIN±2 mm.
Top up with fresh fluid if necessary.
Do not allow a condition in which the power steering reservoir is empty.
Screw the cap onto the power steering reservoir.
Take a test drive at which the power steering fluid warms up to a temperature of approximately 50°C. Check the fluid level, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
