The fluid level can be checked cold or heated up to 50°C.
On a vehicle with cold power steering fluid, with the engine running, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.
On a vehicle with hot power steering fluid, with the engine running, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.

Unscrew the cap from the power steering reservoir (pic. 2–27). Wipe the dipstick at the bottom of the cover with a clean rag.
Screw on and then unscrew the cover.

Check the fluid level, which should be near the MIN·mark (pic. 2–28). The permissible deviation of the liquid level on the probe from the MIN·mark is±2 mm.
Top up with fresh fluid if necessary.
The power steering reservoir must never be empty.
Screw the cap onto the power steering reservoir.
Carry out a test drive at which the power steering fluid warms up to a temperature of approximately 50°C. Check the fluid level, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
