The fluid level can be checked cold or heated to 50°C.
On a vehicle with cold power steering fluid, with the engine running, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.
On a vehicle with hot power steering fluid, with the engine running, set the front wheels to drive straight ahead.

Fig. 2–27. Location of the power steering fluid reservoir
Unscrew the cap from the power steering reservoir (Fig. 2–27). Wipe the dipstick located at the bottom of the cap with a clean rag.
Screw the cap on and off again.

Fig. 2–28. Power steering fluid level dipstick
Check the fluid level, which should be near the MIN mark (Fig. 2–28). The permissible deviation of the fluid level on the dipstick from the MIN mark is±2 mm.
Add fresh fluid if necessary.
The power steering fluid reservoir should never be empty.
Screw the cap onto the power steering reservoir.
Perform a test drive, during which the power steering fluid will warm up to a temperature of approximately 50°C. Check the fluid level, which should be between the MIN and MAX marks.
