As practice shows, the front brake pads on the passenger side wear out more intensively, so they need to be checked on the right front wheel.

Loosen the right front wheel mounting bolts and turn on parking brake, then lift and secure the front of the car on stands. Remove the right front wheel.

Use a caliper to measure the thickness of the brake pad (Fig. 2–25).

Minimum allowable thickness a the brake shoe together with the carrier plate is 7 mm.

If the brake shoe lining is worn to the minimum thickness, all four brake shoes in a set must be replaced.

Install the wheels and lower the vehicle.

It has been established that with a mileage of 1000 km, the wear of the brake pad is on average 1 mm.

Check the thickness of the brake pad through the holes in the wheel disc without removing the wheel (Fig. 2–26).
