Power Steering System — Leak Test (Audi 80 B3)

1. With the engine running, turn the steering wheel to the maximum turning angle in one direction and lock it in this position to create maximum pressure in the system.

2. Check all connections for signs of leaks, tighten if necessary (photo). To check the steering rack seals, remove the inner end of the rack rubber boot from the steering gear, pull it back to expose the seal.





3. Turn the steering wheel to its maximum angle in the other direction and check for leaks again.
