Table of contents: Removal ↓ Installation ↓
Removal
1. Apply the handbrake, raise the front of the car and install safety stands
2. Loosen the mounting screws and remove the lower protective cover of the power unit from under the vehicle.
3. Move the front body panel to the "service" position as described in Chapter 11.
4. As described in the relevant section of Chapter 2, remove the drive belt.
5. Remove the coolant pump pulley as described in Chapter 3.
6. Clamp both pump hoses to minimize fluid spillage.
7. Wipe the area around the connections of tubes and hoses.
8. Mark the tubes to avoid confusion during installation. Unscrew the bolt connecting the feed tube. Be prepared for liquid spillage - place a suitable container underneath. Disconnect the tube and remove the sealing rings. Throw away the rings - new ones are required for installation. Plug the holes to prevent liquid spillage and dirt from getting in.
9. Loosen the return pipe clamp. Disconnect the pipes/hoses and plug the holes to prevent dirt from getting in and fluid from spilling around.
10. Loosen the bolts securing the pump to the mounting bracket and remove the pump from the vehicle.
11. A faulty pump cannot be repaired and must be replaced.
Installation
12. Before installation, the pump must be filled with liquid to ensure sufficient lubrication in the first moments. If this is not done, the pump will make noise and quickly fail. To do this, pour the prescribed type of liquid into the pump feed hole, while simultaneously rotating the pump pulley. As soon as the liquid appears from the outlet, filling can be considered complete.
13. Install the pump in place and tighten its mounting bolts to the specified torque.
14. Replace the O-rings of the tube connection. Attach the tube to the pump, remembering the previously applied marks. Secure the tube and tighten the bolt.
15. Attach the hose and secure it with a clamp. Remove the clamps from the hoses.
16. Install the pulley on the coolant pump as described in Chapter 3.
17. Install the drive belt and tension it as described in Chapter 1.
18. Install the front body panel as described in Chapter 11.
19. Install the lower powertrain guard and tighten the screws.
20. Finally, add fluid to the system and bleed it as described in paragraph 19.
