Execution order
1. Remove the starter cover (see Fig. Carburetor parts 1B3).
2. Open the throttle valve fully.
3. Connect a vacuum gauge and a vacuum pump to the air damper pneumatic drive. Create a vacuum of 100 mbar in the pneumatic drive. If the pneumatic drive is hermetically sealed, the vacuum should not decrease by more than 5 mbar per minute and should decrease to less than 40 mbar.
4. Bring the vacuum to 200–300 mbar.
5. Measure the starting clearance A between the air damper and the wall of the first stage air damper throat using feeler gauges. For cars with a five-speed manual transmission, it should be (2.3±0.15) mm, and for cars with an automatic transmission (2.1±0.15) mm. If necessary, adjust the clearance with the pneumatic drive diaphragm stroke adjustment screw, located at the end of the pneumatic drive cover.
6. Close the atmospheric hole of the air damper pneumatic drive with a plug. Create a vacuum of 200 mbar in the pneumatic drive, which should not change for 1 min if the pneumatic drive is hermetically sealed.
7. Measure the starting gap A of the second stage of the air damper with a feeler gauge, which should be (3.0±0.15) mm.
8. If necessary, adjust the gap with the screw at the end of the air damper pneumatic actuator rod.
9. Clutch shield.
10. Lower bolts securing the clutch housing to the cylinder block.
