Adjusting the gear shift mechanism (Audi Q5-8R)

The initial conditions for correct adjustment of the gearshift drive are the following: faultless drive and transmission parts of the gearshift mechanism, easy movement of the gearshift mechanism, gearbox, clutch and clutch drive are in faultless condition, gearbox in idle position. Remove the gearshift lever handle together with the lining. Remove the sound insulation above the gearshift drive. Check the adjustment of the push rod, dimension "X". Specified value: Dimension "x" = 25 mm. If this is not the case, then set the gap "x" as follows: unscrew the screw "arrow" of the gearshift fork rod. The gearshift lever bushing should easily move back and forth on the sliding element. Set the dimension "x" by moving the gearshift lever bushing. Tighten the push rod bolt "arrow" in this position.



Loosen the shift rod bolt "arrow". The shift rod/shift drive connection should move easily.



Set the gearbox control lever as follows: center the gearbox lever from below in the middle of the lever bushing. The distance from the shift lever bushing to the lower "arrow" shift lever should be the same everywhere.





Adjust the gearshift lever so that it is slightly tilted to the right (3.5?) when viewed in the direction of travel. Hold the lever in this position.



Tighten the bolt of the shift rod "arrow". The position of the gearbox lever should not change when tightening the screw.
