Order of execution
1. Drain coolant (see paragraphs. 1–3 subsections 4.1).
2. Remove alternator belt (cm. paragraphs 4, 5 of subsection 12.1.3.1).
3. For four-cylinder engines, remove the alternator (cm. subsection 12.1.3.1.). Remove water pump pulley (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine), disconnect the hoses from the fittings at the rear of the water pump housing. Loosen the nut and remove the bolt securing the bottom cover (see fig. Camshaft Drive Parts) to the water pump housing. Loosen the bolts and remove the water pump with O-ring (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine). Loosen the bolts and remove the pump cover with the shaft and impeller, remove the gasket.
4. For five-cylinder engines, remove the top cover of the camshaft drive (see fig. Camshaft Drive Parts). Remove the camshaft drive belt. Loosen the water pump mounting bolts and remove the pump (see fig. Cooling system of the five-cylinder engine).
5. Replace O-rings (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine) And (see fig. Cooling system of the five-cylinder engine) and gasket (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine). Clean the mating surfaces on the cover and pump housing.
6. Install the pump in reverse order. On a four-cylinder engine, apply a coat of sealant to the cover gasket before installation. Tension the camshaft drive belt (see paragraphs. 7–8 subsection 3.1.2.9, subsection 3.2.2.7). Pull on the belt.
