Execution order
1. Drain the coolant (see paragraphs 1–3 of subsection 4.1).
2. Remove the alternator belt (see pp.4, 5 of subsection 12.1.3.1).
3. For four-cylinder engines, remove the generator (see subsection 12.1.3.1.). Remove the water pump pulley (see Fig. Cooling system of a four-cylinder engine), disconnect the hoses from the pipes at the rear of the water pump housing. Unscrew the nut and remove the bolt securing the lower cover (see Fig. Camshaft Drive Parts) to the water pump housing. Loosen the bolts and remove the water pump with the sealing ring (see Fig. Cooling system of a four-cylinder engine). Loosen the bolts and remove the pump cover with the shaft and impeller, remove the gasket.
4. For five-cylinder engines, remove the upper camshaft drive cover (see Fig. Camshaft Drive Parts). Remove the camshaft drive belt. Loosen the water pump mounting bolts and remove the pump (see fig. Cooling system of a five-cylinder engine).
5. Replace the sealing rings (see Fig. Cooling system of a four-cylinder engine) and (see fig. Cooling system of a five-cylinder engine) and a gasket (see Fig. Cooling system of a four-cylinder engine). Clean the mating surfaces on the cover and pump body.
6. Install the pump in the reverse order. For a four-cylinder engine, apply a layer of sealant to the cover gasket before installing. Tighten the camshaft drive belt (see paragraphs 7–8 of subsection 3.1.2.9, subsection 3.2.2.7). Tighten the belt.
