Order of execution
1. Drain coolant (see paragraphs. 1–3 subsections 4.1).
2. Loosen the screws and remove the cover (5) (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine) or (16) (see fig. Cooling system of the five-cylinder engine) thermostat.
3. Remove the sealing ring from the cover.
4. Remove the thermostat from its socket.
5. Measure distance a. Then heat the thermostat in water. The beginning of the thermostat opening is about 87°C, the end of the opening is about 102°C. After heating, measure distance A. For a functioning thermostat, the difference between distances A and a must be at least 8 mm.
6. Replace thermostat cover o-ring (see fig. Cooling system of the four-cylinder engine, pic. Cooling system of the five-cylinder engine).
7. Install the thermostat in the socket so that the arrow on the thermostat cross member points downwards.
8. Install the cover, tighten the bolts and evenly tighten to 10 Nm (1.0 kgf·m).
9. Pour fluid into the cooling system.
