Under the action of vacuum, oil is sucked through the mesh filter of the oil receiver from the oil sump and is pumped by the gear oil pump into the oil filter. Cleaned oil enters the oil line of the cylinder block and from there is supplied to the main bearings of the crankshaft, to the connecting rod bearings, and through the channels in the cylinder head - to the bearings of the camshaft.
Oil pump
The gear type oil pump is driven by the intermediate shaft gear. The oil pump cover contains a pressure reducing valve.
Gap between gear teeth, mm: nominal 0.05; maximum: 0.20.
Clearance between the outer diameter of the gears and the bore in the pump body, mm: 0.15.
Oil pressure in the lubrication system, not less than, kg/cm²:
- at idle: 0.30±0.15;
- at a crankshaft speed of 2100 rpm: 1.80±0.20.
Oil pressure sensors
There are two oil pressure sensors on the cylinder block, one of which (with a brown body) is triggered when the oil pressure drops below 0.30 kg/cm² at idle, and the other (with white body) - when it increases by more than 1.8 kg/cm² at a crankshaft rotation speed of 2100 rpm.
The oil pressure indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up and goes out according to commands from the electronic control unit (brand and type: Hella S KN 004 154-04, Audi catalogue number: 813 919 082).
Oil filter
The oil filter with a replaceable filter element is connected in series with the main oil line of the engine.
Brand and type of filter element: Mann W 719/5 or Purflux LS 115.
Motor oil
Lubrication system capacity, l: 3.0 (including 0.5 l in the oil filter).
The oil used is SAE SW20, 10W40 or 15W50. Oil change interval: every 15,000 km.
