Under vacuum, the oil is sucked in through the strainer of the oil receiver from the oil sump and pumped by the gear oil pump into the oil filter. The purified oil enters the oil line of the cylinder block and from it is supplied to the main bearings of the crankshaft, to the connecting rod bearings, and through the channels in the cylinder head to the camshaft bearings.
Oil pump
The gear type oil pump is driven by the countershaft gear. A pressure reducing valve is located in the oil pump cover.
Gap between gear teeth, mm: nominal 0.05; maximum: 0.20.
Clearance between the outer diameter of the gears and the bore in the pump housing, mm: 0.15.
Oil pressure in the lubrication system, not less than, kg/cm2:
- at idle: 0.30±0.15;
- at a crankshaft speed of 2100 rpm: 1.80±0.20.
Oil pressure sensors
There are two oil pressure sensors on the cylinder block, one of which (with brown body) is triggered when the oil pressure drops below 0.30 kg / cm2 at idle, and the other (with white body) - with an increase of more than 1.8 kg / cm2 at a crankshaft speed of 2100 rpm.
The oil pressure warning lamp in the instrument cluster lights up and goes out at the command of the electronic control unit (make and type: Hella S KN 004 154-04, Audi part number: 813 919 082).
Oil filter
An oil filter with a replaceable filter element is connected in series with the main engine oil line.
Brand and type of filter element: Mann W 719/5 or Purflux LS 115.
Engine oil
Lubrication system capacity, l: 3.0 (including 0.5 l in oil filter).
The oil used is SAE SW20, 10W40 or 15W50. Oil change interval: every 15,000 km.
