Table of contents: Thermostat ↓ Coolant pump ↓ Generator and water pump drive belt ↓ Expansion tank ↓ Electric fan ↓ Coolant temperature sensor ↓ Coolant ↓
The engine uses a liquid cooling system with forced circulation. The cooling system includes cooling jackets, a radiator, an expansion tank, a centrifugal pump, a thermostat and an electric fan.

Thermostat

Temperature of the beginning of the opening of the main valve,°C: 85. Temperature of the full opening of the main valve,°C: 105. Stroke of the main valve piston, mm: 7.

Coolant pump

The coolant pump is mounted at the front left of the cylinder block. It is driven by a V-belt at the same time as the generator.

Generator and water pump drive belt

Brand and type of belt: 9.5x950 La Continental V 1915 or Gates 6265 MS. Belt tension is considered normal if the belt deflection when pressing hard with your thumb on the middle of the belt branch between the crankshaft and generator pulleys is within 10-15 mm

Expansion tank

Opening pressure of the pressure reducing valve in the tank cap, kg/cm²: 1.2-1.5.

Electric fan

The fan motor is switched on and off by the fan switch located on the left radiator tank.

Electric fan brand: Bosch.

Fan motor switch-on temperature,°C: 93-98. Fan motor switch-off temperature,°C: 88-93.

Coolant temperature sensor

The three-pin coolant temperature sensor is located on the fitting on the left side of the cylinder head.

The signals from this sensor control the coolant temperature indicator, the automatic carburetor starter and the intake manifold heating device.

Coolant

Capacity of engine cooling and cabin heating systems, l: 7.0.

The coolant used is a mixture of distilled water and G10 antifreeze in a ratio of 60% and 40% (at temperatures down to -25°C).

Replacement frequency: every two years of operation.
