Withdrawal
Disconnect the wire from the minus AB. Relieve fuel pressure.
Drain coolant.
Disconnect the radiator and heater hoses from the engine.
Remove the pressure regulator from the engine without disconnecting the fuel lines. Remove the cold start valve from the intake manifold without disconnecting the fuel lines.
Pull the fuel injectors off the cylinder head and secure the injectors with the fuel lines to the side.
Attention: Close injectors and cold start valve with caps.
Remove the air intake hoses and vacuum hoses from the throttle valve.
Remove the air filter and its covers.
At the top of the grille, remove the hood cable guide from the bracket.
If there is an air conditioner, do the following:
- Remove the two clips from the top of the grille and unscrew the screw at the bottom. Remove grille.
- Loosen the condenser mounting bolts.
- Remove the hose from the air duct to the auxiliary air regulator and remove the air duct from the throttle body.
- Remove the fuel rail, airflow sensor, fuel injectors and airbox as one unit.
Attention: When removing the fuel injectors, do not disconnect the fuel lines. Close injectors with caps.
- Remove accessory drive belts.
Caution: Be careful when discharging the A/C system to avoid personal injury.
- Discharge, as expected, the air conditioning system. Disconnect and plug the A/C hoses and remove them from the engine.
- Remove the upper and lower compressor bolts and remove the compressor from the engine.
Remove the power steering pump without disconnecting the hoses.
Remove vacuum booster.
Remove the exhaust gas control valve (RVG).
Remove the windshield washer reservoir from the holder.
Remove the distributor cap and spark plug wires. Remove distributor vacuum hoses.
Disconnect the throttle link from the engine.
If the transmission is automatic, remove the throttle valve stem.
Disconnect the oil pressure and coolant temperature sensor wires.
Remove the nuts securing the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold.
Remove the support bracket from the gearbox. Loosen the front engine mount bolts and remove the mount. Disconnect the ground strap from the left engine mount, if equipped.
Tag and disconnect all wires from the starter and remove the starter.
Tag and disconnect all wires coming from the alternator and remove the alternator.
If the gearbox is automatic, then unscrew the bolts through the hole for installing the starter. fastening the torque converter.
Remove the lower engine-to-transmission bolts.
Support the transmission and lower the vehicle. Remove the engine and gearbox mounting bolts.
Remove left engine mount bracket. Detach the right engine bracket from the right support.
Raise the engine so that the crankshaft V-belt pulley is behind the grille opening.
Carefully disconnect engine from gearbox.
Remove the engine by turning it to the right while lifting.
Installation
Install the engine assembly and secure the supports.
On vehicles with automatic transmission, install the torque converter bolts. Tighten bolts to 30 Nm.
Install the generator and all its wires. Install the starter and all necessary wires.
Install engine mount and ground bar.
Install the exhaust system and its bracket.
Connect all wires in the engine compartment, including wires for oil pressure and coolant temperature sensors.
Connect the throttle linkage. Install the distributor cap and spark plug wires.
Attention. Secure the opposite left distributor cover so that it does not fall.
Install washer reservoir.
Install the EGR valve and vacuum booster.
Install the power steering pump and all drive belts.
Install the air conditioner compressor and condenser.
Install fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator and cold start valve. Install the hood cable guide to the bracket.
Install the airbox cover and all necessary hoses.
Install the radiator, fill the cooling system and bleed air. Connect the wire to the minus AB.
Tighten mounting bolts:
- Engine to gearbox torque 58 Nm.
- Starter bolts torque 19 Nm.
- Bolts for securing the air conditioner with a torque of 39 Nm.
- Bolts for fastening the power steering pump and pressure regulator with a torque of 19 Nm.
Check all fluid levels and drive the vehicle.
Attention. To reduce vibration, loosen all engine and subframe mounting bolts, then tighten them while the engine is idling. Tighten engine and auxiliary frame mounting bolts to 43 Nm.
