Depending on the model and year of manufacture, cars can be equipped with 4, 5 or 6 cylinder engines.

Four-cylinder engine - design features:

In-line engine arrangement with overhead camshaft.

Valve actuation via plate tappets.

The intermediate shaft drives the oil pump and the ignition distributor.

The camshaft and intermediate shaft are driven by a toothed belt.

Five-cylinder engine - design features:

In-line engine arrangement with overhead camshaft.

Valve actuation via plate tappets.

The oil pump is driven by the crankshaft.

The coolant pump is driven by a toothed belt.

The ignition distributor is driven directly from the camshaft.

Six-cylinder engine - design features:

V-shaped arrangement of cylinders at an angle of 90° to each other.

The location of the intake manifold between two rows of cylinders.

Valve actuation via plate tappets.

The oil pump is driven by the crankshaft.

The coolant pump is located at the front of the crankcase and is driven by a toothed belt.

Ignition system without distributor (three dual ignition coils).

Manual transmission has four or five fully synchronized gears, the selection of which is carried out by means of a handle connected to the box by a system of rods and levers. Cars can also be equipped with an automatic transmission (AT).

Steering rack and pinion type with variable gear ratio. The steering is equipped with a power steering device.

Front suspension independent type on MacPherson struts. consisting of springs and shock absorbers. All models use a stabilizer bar.

Rear suspension is made in the form of levers with spring and telescopic shock absorbers and a crossbar of an open circuit. The longitudinal levers are attached to the body through rubber-metal bushings.

The braking system includes:

Front disc brakes.
  • Rear drum or disc brakes.
  • Braking compensator.
  • Vacuum booster.
  • Handbrake on the rear wheels.
  • Additionally, an anti-lock braking system (ABS) can be installed.

All-wheel drive, which is installed on some vehicles (quattro modification) includes additional units: a rear differential and two drive shafts, a propeller shaft and an additional differential between the front and rear wheels; instead of a solid rear axle, a double wishbone rear suspension is used.
